The 2025 Bylaws were updated via the NYS PTA Bylaws Wizard, in addition the following amendments are proposed:
+ Maintaining Membership Dues at $5 per member, even with NYS and National increase.
+ Intentional Changes to GEPTA Unit Bylaws:
ARTICLE VII - OFFICERS AND THEIR ELECTION: Section 2.c
Extended term length from one year to two years.
ARTICLE VII - OFFICERS AND THEIR ELECTION: Section 3.e
Reduced Nominating Committee report timeline from one month to two weeks prior to membership meeting.
+ Additions to GEPTA Unit Bylaws:

Officers must not be members of the same immediate family or household as other officers serving in the same term.
ARTICLE VII - OFFICERS AND THEIR ELECTION: Section 4
The involuntary removal of an officer, board member, or committee member shall require two-thirds vote of the Executive Board. Any such individual who fails to fulfill his or her duties or fails to abide by the unit’s bylaws, policies, and/or code of conduct shall be removed in accordance with the procedures outlined in this unit’s policy. Any vacated office is to be filled as described in Section 5.
ARTICLE XI - MEETINGS OF THE ASSOCIATION: Section 6
Any active member can speak during the public comment period for a time limited to 2 minutes. Non-member(s) may speak with approval of the majority of the executive board. The Secretary will take notes, and if necessary, the executive committee will respond at a later date.
ARTICLE XII - COMMITTEES: Section 9
A committee of building engagement shall be appointed by the executive board for each of our schools: Boulevard Engagement Committee, Kingsborough Engagement Committee, and Park Terrace Engagement Committee.
