As we start making sign ups accessible online, find all of our volunteer opportunities in one place, right here on our website. We are currently looking for volunteers for our Holiday Shops in all three elementary schools, taking place between Dec 4th-8th at Park Terrace and Kingsborough and Dec 11th-15th at Boulevard. It takes many volunteers to assist students in the shop in order to keep each of them open for the whole week. Help with setup, breakdown and/or assisting students shop throughout the week.
At the Holiday Shop, kids learn about the joy of giving by shopping for their parents, teachers, grandparents, siblings and friends. A variety of items will be available for purchase.
Here is what to expect for each Holiday shop role:
Setup: Assist with unpacking merchandise, organizing it by price and setting up the market before students come in to shop.
Shop Volunteer: Help students shop within their budgets for each of their important people and pay for the merchandise they've chosen to purchase using the register.
Close Shop: Close out the register for the day and prepare the deposit for that day's purchases. Replenish merchandise on the tables (daily) and send a list to gesdpta@gesdk12.org of any merchandise that needs to be reordered (Tues-Thurs).
Breakdown: Help organize and pack up any remaining unsold merchandise for return to the vendor.
