Pick a Reading Partner for Adventures in Reading All April!

The NYS PTA Pick A Reading Partner (PARP) Program is a family-centered literacy initiative designed to encourage children to develop a lifelong love of reading. Through PARP, students are invited to read for at least 20 minutes each day with a partner they choose—such as a parent, grandparent, sibling, or caregiver—helping to strengthen both literacy skills and family engagement in education.
PARP promotes the idea that reading together at home supports academic success while building positive reading habits. By bringing families, schools, and communities together around books, the program helps create a culture where reading is valued, shared, and celebrated.
One class in each Elementary building will be awarded a Pizza Party towards the end of the year. How do you help your class win?
A reading log was sent home with scholars! Write in your minutes on the sheet and have your reading partner initial each day, and don’t forget about the special missions – You’ll also earn extra points for attending the reading nights throughout the month! Be sure to turn in your reading log to your teacher on May 1st!
There will be parent/caregiver information in ParentSquare every Monday and Videos with surprise guest readers every Friday on Social Media. The PTA looks forward to a wonderful month of reading together as families, teachers, and scholars side by side to build a lifelong love of books.
