Marie Wilson's Obituary
Obituary published on Legacy.com by Betz, Rossi Bellinger & Stewart Family Funeral Home - Gloversville on Jan. 11, 2025.
Marie H. Wilson died on January 5, 2025 after a brief illness at the Wesley Health Care Center in Saratoga Springs, New York. Born on July 13, 1931 in Gloversville, NY, where she resided almost her entire life, Marie had a fulfilling, long life of 93 and one half years.
Marie was the middle child of seven siblings born to Frederick A. Arnold and Gertrude Kobuskie Arnold, graduated from Gloversville High School with the class of 1949 and Lasell College in Newton, MA where she studied retailing. She was proud of her internship at Bergdorf Goodman Department Store Company in New York City during college. Growing up in a large family of German descent she believed that "many hands make for light work", set high standards for herself, worked hard at everything and enjoyed life. Marie was an excellent cook, enjoyed knitting, sewing, gardening, jigsaw puzzles, the daily WonderWord and a glass of wine. In her younger days she played golf, enjoyed downhill and cross country skiing, was a long time volunteer for the Nathan Littauer Hospital Auxiliary and a lifetime member of the PTA. She perfected the art of making sugar cookies in various shapes to coordinate with any holiday or celebration and was known within her senior community for delivering homemade "get-well" custard to friends and neighbors when they were recovering from illness.
Marie was predeceased by her husband William E. Wilson after 60 years of marriage. Known as Grandma Re and Pop to their grandchildren, Bill and Marie made an excellent team, raised a family, served their community and in retirement, took several trips to the western United States and Canada in their pop-up camper.
Marie is survived by her daughter Diane Wilson Bosch and husband Eric of Westport, CT; sons William F. Wilson and wife Joni of Gloversville, NY and Paul L. Wilson and wife Sondra of Long Lake, NY; grandchildren Brett Wilson and wife Amanda; Greg Bosch and wife Renee; Jenelle Wheeler and husband Ryan; Kate Boundy and husband Geoff; Nick Wilson; Emily Hunter and husband Ben; great grandchildren, Amelia and Theo Bosch; Ryder and Piper Wilson; Calvin and Beckett Wheeler; her younger sister Barbara von Kreuter-Adams; many nieces and nephews and even more friends.
Family will receive visitors on Saturday, April 26, 2025 at 11am followed by a memorial service at the Mayfield Central Presbyterian Church, 22 N Main Street, Mayfield, NY at 12 noon. Luncheon reception to follow.
